Masters
Over the course of this year, I will be looking back and reflecting on my work and progress as I further develop my skills. There are several reasons why I wanted to continue with my studies.
- Continue working on Red Chandelier
- Build on my world buildering skills.
- Build on my narrative design skills.
- Do more game jams.
- Explore how historical games can be used within education to benefit students learning.
Throughout the year I will reflect how I have grown within each of the listed points above. To do this, it is important to set targets for each of my goals. I will expand upon these goals using SMART in future blogs.
Red Chandelier
This is a long-term goal as there are a lot of stages to getting this project of the ground. These range from team forming, prototyping, through to production, and so on. I will examine each stage as this project progresses. The next two goals are also both relevant here.
World Building
To get to a point where I can make a believable world with in-depth history, biomes, cultures, nations, etc. depending on the world being built. Currently I feel that the few worlds I have designed lack depth in one or more areas.
Narrative Design.
Get better are whiting convincing and meaningful character stories.
Game Jams.
I have never successfully participated in a jam, yet it is a very important part of the design process. I therefore plan to use any opportunity to partake in them as each one is a learning experience.
Games and Education.
I have always been interested history and in how we can gamify history education in the UK curriculum, I am considering looking into doing a PHD in this area.
