The aim of this document was to provide a guide to any potential designers who would hypothetically be working on the game so they could understand what was going on during the period that the game was set. This would hopefully ensure that the game was historically correct and would be engaging to students
This project involved me looking into designing a game that could not only be a fun entertaining game to play, but also could be used for education.
This work also allowed me to examine worldbuilding in greater detail as I was able to build a game and a world in a real life setting, but with the restrictions that I had to stay as close to the historical facts as possible. There were only minor changes made and they were for game play reasons. It also allowed me to focus on narrative design to build a working story for the player within this world.
One of the challenges I found when working on this game is deciding what was necessary for the document and what was not. As I love history, I found it hard to cut any events out.
I strongly believe that games can play a stronger role within education and I believe if done well can open a young students mind to areas where they would have otherwise showed no interest.
