Worldbuilding

Potential Worlds

Worldbuilding interests me as it allows me to explore the systems that are needed to develop a believable and immersive world for the player to explore. Worldbuilding and Narrative design are both important, and both need to be considered when developing the world that will be used within a game.

In both The Mystery of Ble, and The Anarchy I found that not only did I enjoy the story aspects but I also enjoyed making the world. This is also the case for Kitten Conquest. Each one of the worlds is very different yet each was enjoyable.

When making Kitten Conquest it was important to ensure the world was fun and quirky but also suitable to younger children as this was the target audience. So, less emphasis was placed on the history of the world or realism and more was placed on back story for the NPCs to make it believable that cat tribes would fight over control of the living room.

However, in The Mystery of Ble it was important to ensure there was a world history, different biomes, and in depth and living culture, it was also important to examine how the player would interact with all these and other systems. Below is the GDD and Pitch for The Mystery of Ble.

As The Anarchy followed a real historical event, I was able to concentrate on how the player would interact within the world. This allowed me the opportunity examine how a player could make a difference to a already established world yet not change any important historical events, This was because this game was planned to not only be a fun RPG style game but also be useful within a classroom as an educational tool. Below is the Lore Bible for The Anarchy.
